Skills for Health is licensed by the Department for Education and Skills as the Sector Skills Council for Health. Our aim is to help the sector develop solutions that deliver a skilled and flexible UK workforce in order to improve health and healthcare.

Skills for Health covers the whole of the health sector (NHS, independent and voluntary employers) and work with a range of partners to:

• Develop and manage national workforce competences
• Profile the UK workforce
• Identify and articulate sector workforce needs
• Improve workforce skills
• Influence education and training supply

Skills for Health is funded through the four UK health departments, the Sector Skills Development Agency, regulatory bodies and the sector. We do not provide training directly and see education and training providers as some of our key partners.
