BT is delighted to join the Health Service Journal in celebrating the energy, commitment and achievements of healthcare teams and organisations from across the UK at this year’s HSJ Awards.
For several years, BT has been supplying healthcare professionals with the technology to support the delivery of better care for patients. Our relationship with the NHS dates back 60 years – when the very first NHS hospitals were established in 1948. Back then, BT was known as Post Office Telecommunications and provided the NHS with telephone services.
More recently, BT has become increasingly involved in the evolution of communications and IT in the modern NHS, helping to transform the way that employees, departments, and agencies communicate with each other and exchange information.
It is also playing a pivotal role in the National Programme for Information Technology, the world's largest civilian IT project, delivering three major contracts.
Through this work, BT has proved that it is a trusted supplier to the NHS and is fully committed to helping it get the best out of IT and communications systems both now and in the future.
